Thanks Dave!

It's such a shame though that they didn't use gigabit LAN, other than that it would've scored so much higher and had an award for sure. I'm certain there are people who will have a use for it as it is, but it's such a niche product that I cannot for the life of me think what usage it is aimed at. And when compared against the other models in the range it just doesn't add up - when the basic USB/eSATA one or the new USB3 version seem to make so much more economic and practical sense really.

I'm sure it's just a blip on Sharkoon's product line and we'll see great things again in the future!

Whilst I love most sharkoon products, I have to agree with the reviewer that this product needs either a higher spec or a lower price.

Quite tempted to get one of the standard Pro versions actually. Any good reviews?

Hi there!

Thanks for your comments. Since reviewing this product I have been using a similar device for backing up data over the eSATA connection and I've gotta say it's a massive improvement over the USB2 external which I used previously. You are right though that a 'std' version with just the USB and eSATA interfaces is all that's really needed - and a quick google should give you some more places to get honest info on them!
