Installation and testing:

Installation was pretty straight forward. Since the Nexus is so compact for a high power unit it was easy to find space and allowed for a fairly quick and painless install.

Test setup:

Processor: Intel e6600 @ 3GHz
Motherboard: Gigabyte G33 M-ATX
CPU Cooler: Akasa AK-956SF
Optical Drive: NEC Optiarc DVDRW
Graphics: Gainward GTX260 896mb PCI-e
Hard Disk: Samsung Spinpoint 320GB
Case: Lian Li V350

I monitored the PC's voltage rails at idle and then at load. I used OCCT to load the PSU, monitor the rails and then noted the results.

Results:



I wasn't able to fully load it but you can see the RX-8500 was a nicely stable unit. The 5v was a little on the low side but still well within ATX specifications.

Sound:

The RX-8500 was virtually silent - at no point did it spin up even while i was loading as much as i could. Indeed, i found the GPU and CPU coolers were far noisier than the Nexus. Certainly quieter than the many Thermaltake, Hiper and Tagan units i've used recently... it was even quieter than the Antec CP-850 i recently had in for review. Very nice job.
